Why is local designation of our historic buildings important?

Placing your home on the local historic register is a tangible way to help ensure that the authentic character of your neighborhood will be preserved. It also stabilizes the market value in times of economic uncertainty, helps you realize equity in your investment in less time, and helps to attract buyers in the event that you decide to sell.
